• In 2016, Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, placed 4th in Trip Advisor’s Traveller’s Choice awards. With the Canary Island of Tenerife itself being such a beloved destination by Irish holidaymakers, we can see why people would rate Costa Adeje so highly. But what exactly is it that makes this resort town so special?

Days of fun at Playa del Duque Beach

Tenerife is renowned for having fantastic beaches, and one of the country’s best beaches can be found in Costa Adeje. Playa del Duque beach has large sections of golden sand, a volleyball court and water sports available, including jet skiing and parasailing. When you’re ready to pack up for the day, try out one of the surrounding bars to enjoy some typically warm Canarian hospitality and you’ll see why this Costa Adeje beach has such a special place in holidaymakers’ hearts.

    Adventure in Siam Park

There’s no shortage of things to do in Costa Adeje. Whether you’re looking for adrenaline-pumping action or something altogether more relaxing, Siam Park has an attraction to suit you. Families with young children are also well catered for, so no one will be left out! Visitors who want to spend a few days here can book into nearby hotels, but you can see most of the park during a day trip alone.

The Mai Thai River ride is just the right attraction when you want to take it extra easy. On this ride, you glide down a simulated river in a big rubber ring and float past Asian style buildings and palm trees. The water is heated to 24°C and has fast and slow sections which provide just enough excitement. Siam Park is also the proud home of the biggest manmade wave in the world at around 3.3 metres in height!

    Spectacular view from Mount Teide

After your first visit to Mount Teide, you’ll never forget the view from the top. The mountain’s 3,718-metre summit is the highest point in Spain and offers views over Tenerife and the Teide National Park. You can join a tour group or climb, drive or take the cable car to the top of the mountain and experience the island’s beauty first hand. At the foot of the mountain there’s also a restaurant that serves delicious Canarian cuisine, so why not tuck in and get plenty of fuel into you before you tackle the ascent!

    Moving whale watching opportunities

Costa Adeje is a hive of whale activity and the island brims with opportunities to spot a whale or two for yourself! Go on a boat trip with one of Costa Adeje’s tour operators and you could see pilot whales, sperm whales and, of course, some lovable dolphins! Even if you don’t happen to catch a glimpse of a dolphin or whale, an active day of swimming, sailing and making new friends will quickly become one of your most treasured holiday memories.
