• For many of us it is a familiar scenario: the work day is finished but an important email comes in. What happens? You read it, of course. And often you act upon it. This leads to stress when you should be relaxing. Why do we do it to ourselves?

Perhaps it’s time we all took a lesson from the French, who recently passed a law that enables employees to ignore business emails that arrive out of office hours. The measure is designed to ensure respect for rest periods and promote a healthy work/life balance. In the spirit of ignoring the world, we’ve put together five luxury destinations where your emails will just have to wait.

    Montego Bay, Jamaica

An elegant hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica, one of our other luxury destinations

Located on the glamorous west coast of Jamaica, Montego Bay is a classy sunspot and frequent celebrity hangout. Between the beautiful white sandy beaches, golf courses, hot and spicy jerk cooking and reggae music you’ll have no reason to even think about answering your emails.

Stay by the shore at the Riu Palace Jamaica and you’ll have access to pools, restaurants and a health spa. There’s a wide choice of leisure activities in and around Montego Bay, including cycling in the Blue Mountains, river rafting along the Martha Brae River and swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Cove.

    Riviera Maya, Mexico

Take a trip to Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula this year and enjoy miles of unspoilt coastline, lush tropical rainforest and ancient stone monuments. The Sensatori Resort Mexico places you close to lively places like Playa del Carmen and quieter spots such as Punta Allen. From theme parks and extreme sports to relaxing days spent poolside, this is a genuine escape from everyday life. Special activities include taking a hike through the jungle and visiting mysterious Mayan ruins.

Couple relaxing together in the shade in a luxury hotel

    Sorrento, Italy

No one does relaxation quite like the Italians. Sophisticated destinations like Sorrento combine sunshine, scenery and designer shopping like nowhere else. Laze on Sorrento’s beaches, enjoy a coffee in a bustling piazza or ride around the pretty streets on a bicycle tour. At the Sensimar Atlantic Palace, sea and mountain views are a given and you’ll enjoy luxury facilities, swimming pool and gardens and chilled out evening entertainment.

    Costa Adeje, Tenerife

Leave the stresses and strains of everyday life behind you and fly to Tenerife for a sun-soaked stay at the Hotel Bahia Princess.  This fabulous hotel has shops and restaurants on its doorstep, beaches to die for plus three outdoor swimming pools and a buffet restaurant where you can eat caviar and drink cava. Located in Tenerife’s Costa Adeje area, you’ll experience vibrant shorefront living and always have something to do.

    Lyttos Beach, Crete

Long shot of a luxury hotel in Crete, showing a swimming pool and a view out to the sea

Secluded Lyttos beach is a calm spot close to the village of Analipsi and here you’ll find the Sensatori Resort Crete. With beautiful beaches on the doorstep and lively Hersonissos nearby, this is a fantastic place to spend your holidays.

Enjoy some peaceful sunbathing or more adventurous pursuits like water skiing and banana boat hire. The resort is also close to Crete’s capital, Heraklion, in which historic architecture and varied shopping make it an entertaining place to spend the afternoon.

Wherever you travel this year, remember that your emails can wait until you get back! Book your hols with us, leave the laptop at home and then get down to the important business of relaxing.
