Back-to-school regime got the better of you? In serious need of a family-friendly break? Then look no further, because these are the best places to escape to this February mid term…
1. Tenerife – for the Get Bored Easily family
Whether your perfect half term is all about building sandcastles on the beach, hiking through pine forests or trawling designer shops, Tenerife has got the lot. And because of that it’s a great choice for families who like to get out and explore. We’d recommend staying at Holiday Village Tenerife, which has the perfect family set-up, with waterslide pools, activities and extras like a cinema and bowling alley. The beach is in easy reach, too. There’s a kids’ club for children aged 0-11, as well as outdoor activities like archery, Water Walkerz and raft-building. Now you won’t get that at school.
2. Costa Del Sol – for the Never Far From A Zoo family
If you’ve already done the Dublin zoo and Fota and got the t-shirt(s), make tracks for Spain’s Costa Del Sol this half term. The Bioparc Fuengirola is a zoo with a difference – the animals run free in this simulated tropical forest, so there isn’t a cage in sight. If you’re wondering where to stay so that you’re close by, take a look at our February deals on holidays to the ClubHotel Riu Costa Del Sol. It’s just up the road and has a Spa del Mar Wellness Centre for when the adults in your family need a bit of non-zoo-time.
3. Fuerteventura – for the We Can’t Agree family
If you’ve got lots of different ages and personalities in your family, Fuerteventura is the place for you. Yes, this Canary Island is home to 150-odd beaches to relax on, but it’s also the kind of place where activities are on offer around every corner. Go on a 4×4 off-road tour, exploring volcanic craters and rugged wildlife. Or hop on board a pirate ship and cruise along the coast spotting dolphins, flying fish and whales. Hotel-wise, stay close to all the action at the Hotel Costa Caleta. It’s a 10-minute walk from the beach and even closer to local shops and restaurants.
